Securus Technologies Acquires its Largest Asset to Date
Prison technology company, Securus Technologies, announced in early January 2018 that they have acquired payment solutions company, GovPayNet. This acquisition is just the latest in a long line of purchases by the tech giant. This move will allow Securus to further expand the services that the company provides to government agencies nationwide.
GovPayNet provides credit and debit payment processing to over 2,300 government agencies across North America. This incudes probation, criminal and traffic fines, and bail payments among others. The company has been in existence since 1997, giving them over 20 years of experience in the space.
Securus Technologies was founded in 1986 and over the past 30+ years, they have purchased over 20 other businesses and constantly expanded their portfolio of services. They company is headquartered in Dallas, Texas and provide services to over 3,500 public safety and corrections facilities. They provide phone and video self-service products to over 1.2 million inmates on an annual basis. The acquisition of GovPayNet will allow the company to streamline its services and provide better customer service to its clients. Securus currently provides emergency response, incident management, information management, and many other products and services to their government clients.
